Most Commonly Forgotten Items

  1. RETURN ITEM REQUEST – Return library books, movie rentals, and things you may have borrowed from friends and neighbors! Also, pick up any items at the cleaners or repair shop.
  2. HIDDEN AWAY – Uncover any items you may have hidden in your home. Take all valuables in your vehicle.
  3. OPEN SESAME – Leave the garage door opener.
  4. The KEYS PLEASE – Collect all spare house keys from hiding places, neighbors, relatives to leave for the next occupant.
  5. For the RECORD – Plan ahead to get certified copies of all medical, dental, veterinarian, and school records. Often a photocopy is insufficient, and notarized copies take time.
  6. CASH at HAND – Open new bank accounts in your new town prior to moving. This will make access to your funds simpler and more expeditious.
  7. CLEAN SWEEP – Leave basic cleaning supplies for the final clean sweep after all your possessions are loaded, or arrange for a cleaning service. This is a good opportunity to use items that cannot be shipped, e.g. bleach, etc.
  8. OLD and NEW – Old phone numbers and addresses. Pack a phone directory; you may need it! Carry your new address and phone number in you purse or wallet for quick access.
